Lauren and Jerzy had the simplest yet romantic elopement day near Ithaca, New York last fall.
Without hesitation, Lauren and Jerzy’s sweet little elopement near Ithaca was one of the most beautiful days I’ve ever been a part of. Everything about the day was purposeful and meaningful, and every detail chosen was undeniably them.
Lauren reached out to me only two months before their elopement day, wide eyed and ready to make any plan work. Although the pandemic was in full effect, it really didn’t seem to play much part in their elopement planning. You see, these two are elopers at heart and knew from the very beginning that they wanted their wedding day to simple, understated, and very purposeful.
The Elopement Day
Being huge nature lovers and bird watchers, both Lauren and Jerzy wanted a location that felt off-the-radar, but also special at the same time. Of course I sent them a few of my favorite places in Ithaca, but it was actually them who came across this unknown trail right around the corner from their home. It had ponds and rolling hills that showed off the autumn colors – everything they ever dreamed in their elopement location.
They decided to spend the first half of their wedding day getting ready together at home, and only invited two of their best friends along to act as their officiant and witness. They picked up some food and champagne for a picnic, and brought along a delicious chocolate cake from one of Jerzy’s favorite bakeries.
After the ceremony, Lauren and Jerzy booked a new nights at a nearby bed and breakfast called Gothic Eves Inn. Although I wasn’t able to join them for the elopement after party due to pandemic restrictions, I’m hoping one of my future couples books a room there for their elopement because it looks so beautiful!
From the quiet nature trail they picked as their location, Lauren’s stunning but understated ASOS gown, and of course Jerzy’s bird tie, every aspect was chosen with intent and with their personalities at the forefront. You wouldn’t mistake this elopement day as anyone else’s and that’s what getting married this way is all about!
